A Note from Jackson High School Athletic Director – Mr. Dan Michel
Jackson High School Athletics
Hello Parents & Athletes
OHSAA Meeting
As you prepare for the 2020-2021 spring athletic season to begin we all know that the sports scene is much different. Between the Ohio Department of Health, OHSAA, and local health officials giving us guidelines and mandates in how we conduct our athletic practices, games, and other events. We all know it’s going to be much different. Our coaches and athletes have been following all guidelines to the best of their ability through the preseason workouts.
We will need each of you to help out as much as possible. It will be helpful that each athlete attempts to keep their conduct with outside groups as limited as possible. We need each athlete to be screened at home for temperature checks along with other health concerns. If an athlete is not feeling well or has a temperature above 100.2 he or she needs to stay at home. Wearing face coverings when out in public, on the way into practice, out of practice, will help protect them.
We are waiting to hear from the governor and OHSAA on further guidelines that we will need to follow. Parent and fan attendance at most of our boys/girls lacrosse events shouldn’t be a problem. If by chance we play in a smaller venue our opponents will let us know if we will be limited in attendance. As far as our home events we should have plenty of room to handle our normal lacrosse attendance. We do ask that we social distance, sit every other row, and we all must wear a mask inside the stadium at all times. We have no control on these mandates other than to follow them. Please park on the west side of the stadium (Sauder Side) to enter Robert Fife Stadium. All tickets will be purchased through Hometown Ticketing. We will not be selling any tickets at the gate. Please have tickets downloaded on your phone or print them off to present to our ticket takers.
I’ve attached a PDF powerpoint of various JHS Athletic guidelines followed by some OHSAA rules and regulations. Please take a look at this with your student-athlete. .
I look forward to seeing all of you at the various athletic events. I know the athletes have been working hard and putting in a lot of effort. I wish you all the best.
As always: Go Bears!
Dan Michel
